On Tuesday, Feb. 19, at about 11:36 p.m., Connecticut State Police Troop C received a 9-1-1 call from an employee of the Xtra-Mart at 169 Main St. in Somers, (Rt. 190 at Rt. 186) who reported an armed robbery had just taken place at the store.
Troopers made an immediate search of the area for the suspects.
Police say two white males in their early twenties entered the store and the first male quickly advanced on the clerk and put a knife to the clerk’s throat.
Police say the first suspect demanded the combination to the safe and when the clerk stated he did not know the combination, he told the clerk to open the cash register and demanded money while the second suspect acted as a lookout.
Police say the first suspect grabbed an undetermined amount of cash; the suspects then fled on foot in a northerly direction toward Hall Hill Road.
State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene for this investigation; both physical and forensic evidence was recovered.
Police say video surveillance shows the suspect with the knife wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers.
The other male is wearing blue jeans, a dark coat and a red/black plaid winter hat.
There were no injuries reported.
